Privacy Notice

This page explains what happens to information visitors provide on this site. It applies to the Matt Wilson for Mississippi campaign website.

Information we collect

Depending on how you interact with this site, we may collect the following: your name, email address, mailing address, and phone number if you sign up or volunteer; payment and related information if you contribute, handled by WinRed as described below; and general, non-identifying technical information about site visits, described under Analytics.

How we use information

We use the information you provide to respond to you, keep you updated on the campaign, coordinate volunteer activity, and comply with Mississippi campaign finance disclosure requirements where applicable. We do not sell personal information.

Joining the campaign, volunteering, and phone numbers

A phone number is optional on the signup form and is used only to reach you about volunteering, unless you tell us otherwise. We do not currently operate a text-message (SMS) program; providing a phone number does not sign you up for text messages. If that changes, this notice will be updated to say so before any such program begins.

Signup and email services: The campaign uses Netlify Forms to receive and store information submitted through the website signup form. The campaign uses Constant Contact to maintain its campaign email list and may transfer signup information to that service for campaign updates. You may also join by emailing the campaign directly.

Donations

The donation option on this site is processed by WinRed, a third-party payment platform. Information you provide to WinRed to make a contribution (such as your name, address, occupation, and employer) is collected and processed under WinRed’s own privacy practices, which you can review on their site before contributing. Separately, Mississippi campaign finance law requires certain contributor information to be publicly disclosed in campaign finance reports; that legally required disclosure is distinct from, and in addition to, WinRed’s handling of your payment information.

Analytics

The site uses Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused service configured without advertising profiles, cross-site tracking, or cookies for ordinary site analytics. It measures aggregate, anonymous information such as page views, which pages are visited, and clicks on a small number of key links (for example, the Donate button, the Join the Campaign link, and document downloads) so the campaign can understand which parts of the site are useful to visitors. This is separate from Netlify Forms, which receives signup submissions, and Constant Contact, which maintains the campaign’s email list. If additional analytics or advertising trackers are added in the future, this notice will be updated before they are added to explain what is running and what it collects.

Fonts and other technical resources

This site loads some of its typefaces from Google Fonts rather than hosting every font file itself. When your browser retrieves those files, it communicates directly with Google’s font servers, and that request can carry ordinary technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and the request itself. The campaign does not receive a personal profile from this and does not use it for tracking. That communication is governed by Google’s own privacy policy, not this one.

Unsubscribing and correcting your information

Every campaign email includes an unsubscribe link. You may also ask to be removed from our list or ask us to correct or delete information we hold about you by emailing Matt@VoteForMattWilson.com. We will act on that request as quickly as we reasonably can.

Data retention

We keep volunteer and supporter information for as long as it is useful to the campaign, or until you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first. Information that WinRed or Constant Contact retains independently is governed by that provider’s own retention practices.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect information submitted through this site, but no method of online transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children’s privacy

This site is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a material way, we will update the effective and last-updated dates above and, where appropriate, note what changed.
